Πολύ αναμενόμενες οι υποψηφιότητες, που κινούνται στα πλαίσια και των υπόλοιπων "μικρότερων" βραβείων. Ίσως μοναδική έκπληξη να αποτελεί η απουσία της Ταινίας Lego από την κατηγορία καλύτερου animation. Αλλά όπως και να το κάνουμε είναι γνωστό ότι οι επιλογές της ακαδημίας κάθε χρόνο ευνοούν κάποιους και τα βραβεία έχουν χάσει την σημασία τους και το κύρος τους, Από το πιο γνωστό παράδειγμα Pacino μέχρι τον φετινό Nolan που για ακόμα μία φορά τον σνόμπαραν κανονικότατα παρά τις 5 υποψηφιότητες του Interstellar σε κυρίως τεχνικές κατηγορίες.
